Okay...so hopefully YOU aren't making any fashion mistakes at work. So maybe this post only applies to your co-workers. In which case, you should forward it to them as a PSA.
Or don't. Cause they are making YOU look good :)
In any case, here are my top 5 fashion mistakes women are committing at the office:
5) Nail art
I get it. It's like you're wearing teeny-tiny artwork on your nails. Kinda neat.
But if you seek to climb the proverbial ladder at work and want others to take you seriously, stick to a more neutral + professional color palate.
4) Thick platform heels
I was told that now that I'm living in Las Vegas, this is a common sight on working women. And gosh darn it if I wasn't looking at real estate yesterday and the realtor showing me a model home was wearing platforms that make the ones in this picture look like they belong on the JV squad.
I marveled at how she could walk on the thick carpet. I don't remember the house.
Anyway, save the platforms for the weekend (or the bedroom). A thick platform has no place at work.
Sorry. I had to include this one (and no...I'm not including a photo. Sorry to disappoint the 5 men who read this blog :)).
If you look in the mirror and see boobage, you need to put on a different top before you step foot into work. No one wants to stare at your front-crack when they are trying to talk to you about their taxes. Or their student's progress report. Or fill in the blank. It's just not appropriate in the workplace if you want to be taken seriously.
Working in a school environment, this is a common sight. If you would wear it to the beach, please don't wear it to the office.
And no...I don't care if it has fancy rhinestones on it.
1) Visible bra straps
Ahhh...my latest + greatest pet peeve.
Have you ever seen a woman wearing a racerback blouse with a standard bra? My husband saw a gal wearing this the other week and was so confused, "Is that on purpose? I mean, is that a trend?" No honey....it's not. It's just someone not caring. Which is fine if you're at home alone making fudge. But if you are going to work, invest in appropriate undergarments. Otherwise don't wear the top.
So what about YOUR workplace? Do you see any of these offenses? Or maybe you experience other noteworthy infractions?
