How to Wear Leopard Print and Bright Red

Did you read the title of this post and click on it hoping to see me dressed as a call-girl?

Leopard print and the color red are both bold statements.
You have to be a little careful in how you mix the two.
Here are a few tips to keep from looking like a lady of the night:

Rule 1: Be sure to smile.
I don't think working girls smile very much.  Well...that is what I've heard.

Rule 2: Let one "dominate" more than the other.
You don't want to have them competing.
I let the red take center stage here and threw in the leopard print as an accent.

Rule 3: Anchor the style with either a dark or a neutral piece.
Here I chose a navy blue pleated skirt (the pleats add a prim + proper feel).

Blouse - Jason Wu for Target (Purchase HERE)
Skirt - WallpapHer via Nordstrom
Shoes - Cole Haan (Similar HERE)
Bag - Fossil
Watch - Michael Kors (Purchase HERE)
Earrings - Anthropologie
Belt - Nordstrom

Rule 4: Stay away from form-fitting pieces when wearing this combination.
Unless you are in Vegas.  In which case you should not wear a pleated skirt.

Would you wear leopard print and a bold red together?  How about to the office?

Very good tips! After years of making fun of leopard (thinking its only for strippers and sorority girls), I've totally jumped on the leopard bandwagon and I'm hooked :)

@ granola2glam - haha! I love that you thought of strippers AND sorority girls in the same reference. So funny. :-)

Marion,

You nailed it and your tips are awesome. I recently just started wearing leopard and the more tips I acquire the more I want to wear them.

Ps. Your pleated skirt is amazing I love it.

Love this outfit, Marion! That pleated skirt is gorgeous on you! You look very classy as always :)

I do wear my leopard flats to my office but that's it. I'm waiting for one of my co-workers to wear those leopard print jeans paired with leather or something equally inappropriate. :)

Oh girl I love this combo. Adding in a fun print like leopard or python always spices things up, but I agree with you that you have to keep balance in mind. It can go from trendy to costume-y (or street walker, ha!) in the blink of an eye.

Loving that top, too! Very flattering.

I was actually wearing red and leopard the day you posted this, and I haven't had a chance to make it over to comment! I wore a red sweater cardigan with neutral pants and leopard pumps. Such a fun combo! And you look beautiful in it!
