Style Icon: Lauren Conrad

"I don't really have a talent.
I can't sing or act or dance or perform.  All I can do is be myself."
- Lauren Conrad

I really wish more celebs would have this degree of maturity and perspective (I'm talking to you Kim K!)  But Lauren Conrad possesses more than a rare sense of self...she has a style that is simple, straightforward and just flat-out gorgeous.

What can we learn from LC's style?  Well...let's see:

When wearing bright skinny jeans, LC keeps the rest of her styling simple and neutral.

Lauren loves neutrals and isn't afraid to mix varying shades of beige + nude.  Her classic Chanel bag (seen in the first photo also) is a classic goes-with-anything accessory.

Wearing her own designs (Paper Crown skirt and blouse) LC shows how sexy a simple nude palette can look.  Here we see another Chanel bag...in beige of course!

Keeping the bottom simple/slimming in black while adding a cozy neutral top can seem boring at first...but it's total perfection.

Same black basics as the previous image, however this time with layered neutrals on top.

A nude top kissed with pink undertones is the perfect match to a clean black style.  And gosh...I really need to get a Chanel bag!

Sometimes in the blogging world we over-think our styles. We pile on accessories and add layers of color over contrasting patterns and textures...till we look like we are wearing our entire closet!  Lauren's style is a great reminder that simple is sexy and classic.

What do you think of LC's style?

I love her and her style is really fun. I think, as embarrasing as that may sound, that in another life I was her hah!

Ah, I totally agree with you! Less is definitely more, and this is a great reminder of how a simple outfit can be the most stunning. I think the Olsen twins definitely helped with the "pile everything on" trend.

Very true. My style is more minimalistic, and sometimes I feel like I need to do more as a blogger. Good reminder that if simple is our style that it doesn't make us boring! And I want a Chanel bag too - unfortunately I don't have an extra $3K lying around...

I flipping ADORE LC's style. She makes me miss California so much. And totally agree with you on Kim K. Stop pretending like a leaked and embarrassing tape is a talent. Although I guess in some cases it could be....regardless...LC...totally classy and so chic and put together.

Marion, do you have LC's book "Style"? She's coming out with a book on make-up too. "Style" was a great buy...sure the next one will be too. You should pick it up!

I love her style! I also like seeing how she's evolved over the years. She's never afraid to try something new, but it all stays true to HER.

@ everyone - YAY! So glad that so many of you love LC as much as I do :-)

@ Sara Marie - I don't have her book...YET. It's on my list of books to buy in hardback! And I also plan on getting her make-up book as well!

I love LC too! Have you ever browsed her collection for Kohl's? It's amazing. I have a few of her pieces and wrote about it HERE.

I completely agree with what you said about reminding ourselves that simplicity is sometimes better than all the crazy mixes we come up with :)

I love her style, she's a spokesperson for those of us who love to keep things simple but chic :)

I LOVE Lauren...there's something about her simple, yet chic way of putting together outfits that I want to duplicate. She is also very careful about accessories...never has too much - a timeless handbag, gorgeous pair of shoes or a simple gold necklace!! xo, tasha

I love all the simple looks. Her neutrals and basic pieces make the outfit elegant rather than eclectic, which I think has its place but isn't necessary all the time! Good post!

I just saved a few of these to my inspiration folder! I don't follow Lauren Conrad at all, but she has super cute style! I am in love with the shorts & blouse look ... her hair is such a big part of the outfit, which I love. Thanks for sharing! xo
