Beauty Tip Tuesday: Three Ways to get Beautiful Lashes

So I am going to tell you something that is going to shock most of you.  I apologize if what I am about to say is disappointing...but here goes:

Kim Kardashian's lashes are not real.
I know I know!  Crazy, isn't it?

Beautiful lashes are our gender's holy grail - we never stop searching for products, tricks or tools to lengthen and add fullness.  Even if you were born with a pair of sunglass-ticklers, you may still find yourself looking for ways to make them even longer because we are women and that is what we do.

Three options for creating beautiful lashes:

1) Velour Lashes
Visit Velour Lashes to see their various styles.
The model here is wearing "Strike a Pose"

Seriously the most beautiful and realistic false eyelashes I have ever seen!  Founded by two best friends, this Toronto-based company produces high-end 100% mink fur lashes perfect for a special event or for everyday wear.  They have numerous styles on sale right now plus shipping is always free!  Click here to browse.

2) Xtreme Lashes

This image shows a before/after with Xtreme Lashes.

Extreme lashes are worn by nearly every female celebrity including the Kardashian sisters (no surprise that they sport the longest length available).  A trained professional applies individual eyelashes to your eye for a natural look.  The initial procedure can take around 2 hours and you'll need to return for "re-lashing" about once a month to replace the lashes which have shed.

If you want to keep up with the Kardashians: apply 60-80 eyelashes per lid
If you are happy with being slightly more demure: apply 40 eyelashes per lid

This is a little spendy but the results truly are amazing.  One word of caution: you aren't able to wear mascara as the oils break-down the surgical adhesive used to affix the lashes.

Find an Extreme Lash Stylist in your area by searching here.

3) Latisse
Week 0
Week 16
This image shows a real-life example of regular and proper product use.

Latisse is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis used to grow eyelashes as well as make them longer, thicker and darker.  I should start off by saying that I have not tried Latisse.  This inclusion is merely because I have heard from so many reputable beauty experts and fellow bloggers that this product is effective.  Although I was (and still am slightly) horrified at the thought of putting anything resembling a chemical compound near my eye, the testimonials as to the value of Latisse is overwhelming.  Visit their site for more information.

Have you tried any of these options and if so, what was your experience?

XO - Marion

I tested out fake lashes during a makeup trial for my wedding and I have to say, I hated them! Maybe it's something you get used to, but I just wanted to pull them off and so I decided not to have them for my wedding.

I feel like a really good application of mascara can sometimes achieve the same effect!

I have never heard of Extreme Lashes! They look great, but can you say high maintenance??

Lately I've been using the individual lashes from the drugstore when I want a little more for a night out. They are easy to apply - easier for me than the full lash strips. My bridesmaids and I wore fake lashes for my wedding and they really make a difference, especially in pictures!

@ Sharon and Leigh - High-maintenance for sure! My sister has never even touched mascara(!) and she has gorgeous lashes. It's all about perspective :-)

These are some great options Marion. I wear contacts, so I stay away from this, but I love 'the look'. It's important to choose the best option for you.

hmmm I thought about Latisse, but it makes me nervous...
Update on those BaubleBar Earrings... supercute, but def worth the $12 I paid and not the $22 what they are listed for. The rhinestones are kind of cheapy looking up close! Hope your having a great week!

I've thought about Latisse, but the fact that my hazel green eyes might turn more brown scares me. I have been using the L'Oreal Lash Serum and it seems to make my lashes thicker, but I'm not sure if they are longer. I'll give it more time.

Great post!

So I'm back to check out the hairy hairline post... haha! I actually just bought Latisse but not for my eyelashes. I read in redbook that it can stimulate eyebrow growth. After years of overplucking, the growth has gotten extremely slow and some parts of my eyebrows are sparse. So I'll report back after I use my first bottle how well it worked. I'd love to use it on my lashes too but this product is pricey!

I really need something like this. I barely have lashes and it makes me so sad!

I use Latisse and I love it! I was also told that it works where ever you have current hair growth, so I do sweep a little onto my brows after I do my lashes. My lashes look fantastic, but I can't say I noticed much growth on my brows. My eyes are brown, so I don't think I'd notice a change in pigmentation either even if there was any. Shop around for this stuff because there are deals. The doctor I see had a special Buy 1 Get 1 Free and they signed me up for a $25 coupon offer and gave me their $25 coupon offer, so I got 2 bottles for $75! I started my first bottle in October and am still using it. There are tricks to using the stuff too so that it lasts much longer than they say. Good luck!

I used to use Latisse and it was seriously amazing!!! I have THE shortest lashes ever so I was super psyched to try it. I had no side effects at all, only INCREDIBLY long, lush lashes. I stopped using it because it's expensive to keep up. You have to use it everyday and it's not cheap. It was definitely fun while it lasted though! I'd recommend a great mascara to give you the illusion of long lashes - Mally Volumizing Mascara is my all time favorite!

If you are curious to learn the most effective eyelash growth products that you can find in the cosmetics world, the best thing that you can do is to look for eyelash reviews.

Le Lash by Orthoderma makes lashes longer and denser, is cheaper than Lalisse, has no drugs in it and only needs to be used 2-3 times a week to work. I'm a big fan :)). I have tried fake eyelashes but could never get them to stick. Maybe time to try again as the Velour brand looks interesting.

The reasoning is this: If you buy the best parts now you have less chance of breaking down and the REAL cost of repairs is in the labor. This technology utilizes electrical impulses to stimulate the muscles in a way that imitates real exercise (contraction and release). However, NiCd batteries have now been abandoned by laptop manufacturers with the introduction of more efficient and lighter-weight batteries.
