Why you should buy something else

Imagine this.  You are standing in Sephora (sooooo hard to imagine for many of you I'm sure!) and you overhear a few stylish women talking enthusiastically about a product.  What do you do??

Well, if you were me, you find this item and buy it!

Despite loving my current foundation, I gave the Make Up For Ever HD High Definition Foundation a try.  I won't go on and on about my experience, so I'll just summarize here:

CONS
  • Doesn't last long.  In fact, I would sometimes look in the mirror an hour or so after applying and would need to touch up with powder.
  • Appears oily.  This was probably the biggest hiccup I saw with this product.
  • Your face just felt dirty after a couple hours.  Boo.
PROS
  • Easy to use pump
  • Lots of color options
I always want to love what I buy...but alas this just isn't always the case.  So to end this post on a positive note, here is a little Bogey to brighten the day!

Hi Mommy!  You look better without that foundation!

Because you know open-toed shoes are running out of time...

Do you think open-toed shoes are a no-no in Fall?  What if I were to tell you that it's still 80 degrees outside?  Yes..I thought you would agree with my assessment that a girls gotta take advantage and get a little more use out of the open-toed shoes in her closet while she can!

Please forgive the un-made bed in the background!

Is there a time of year where you MUST put away your open-toed shoes?  Or is it simply contingent on where you live and the weather?

I have a confession to make...

Do you ever innocently look down at your nails and catch your breath because you just realized that your nails look horr-en-dous?

How long have I been walking around like this??  Why hasn't anyone said something??

You then spend the rest of the day clutching your hands in tight fists so that no one will see that your nails look like that of a grubby 8-year old boy.

As soon as I get home, I being the process of giving my nails a new life.  And the anxiety kicks in.  You see, I have a confession.  I wasn't born with the gift of "nail painting."  I know, I know...I am writing a blog on style and fashion and I can't paint a proper nail?  Blasphemy!

I keep thinking that if I practice enough, I'll inch toward competence.  But alas...I've been telling myself this since the 3rd grade.  And dark colors are the worst!  Am I alone in this feeling?  Maybe when I'm in my 40's I'll get it!

Anyhoo - I went to Ulta and picked up a few new colors - 2 for fall/winter and 1 for spring (couldn't help myself...makes me want to find a beach!)
L-R: Essie in Turquoise & Caicos, Essie in Buy Me a Cameo, and Butter London in Big Smoke
I'm currently sporting Essie's Buy Me a Cameo, which I feel is a nice transition color to go from summer to fall weather.  Here is a look-see:
Geesh!  I just realized that my fingers look like little sausages in this pic!  A hand model I am not!  LOL!
Yes...that is a boo-boo on my middle finger!
The polish has stayed strong for 3 days so far (using Essie's Fill the Gap basecoat and Essie's Good to Go! hardening topcoat).  I'm anxious excited to see how the Butter London color looks next!

What are your fav colors for fall nails??

Ever have a case of the Mondays?

It's a Monday.  You stand in your closet and look from left to right...and nothing is screaming "Wear me!  Wear me!"  You sigh and reach for what you think may look okay...and you remember your promise to yourself to pre-plan your outfits the night before because you are NOT a morning person.

So black and white it is!

At least the flippy tulip skirt makes a girl feel a little more light on their feet on a Monday.
What do you typically reach for when you wake up with a case of the Mondays?

Why hello there...

I'm inspired everyday by blogs written by people who share a passion for the beautiful things in life.  Whether it be fashion, make-up or design - this blog is a personal internet book celebrating the stylish things in everyday life.

And speaking of appreciating the small things in life, Starbucks is one of those "little joys" that I appreciate each day.  As far as vices go...it isn't so bad :-)

Thanks for visiting and I hope to meet you soon!
